Our Teaching Principles

Dance Expressions Unlimited takes great pride in its superior teaching quality as we feel that principles are the foundation on which great leadership is created. Instructors are fun, patient, loving, caring, knowledgeable, mature, and professional.

  1. FUN, Variety, Creativity: Classes are structured to incorporate fun into the lessons because students learn more when they are enjoying themselves.

  2. Love, Empathy, & Compassion: Dr. M. Scott Peck, in the Road Less Traveled defined love as “effort dedicated toward helping oneself or another person change & grow.” Teaching is exactly that.

  3. Unconditional Respect: We offer unconditional respect between the student and the teacher. There is no tolerance for humiliation, embarrassment or demeaning behavior.

  4. Enthusiasm: Energy & enthusiasm is very inspirational to all students.

  5. Clear Expectations: We very quickly and clearly let the students know what is expected of them with regard to effort and behavior.

  6. Positive Praise: We focus on improvements and constantly praise the students for their efforts & achievements. We don’t dwell on the “bad.”

  7. Discipline & Structure: Classes are structured & disciplined so the students know what is expected of them. Discipline is not in the form of punishment.

  8. Challenge: Classes are challenging (within the realm of the class & students) to allow students to stretch and grow as persons & dancers.

  9. Success: Success comes from the feeling of accomplishment, therefore, we constantly reward & praise improvements & advancements in technique, effort, and skill level.

  10. Perpetual Motion: Students learn by doing, thus we keep the class @ a quick pace leaving little time for inaction which leads to boredom.

  11. Safety: The students’ safety is of utmost importance.
